I was watching something else that quoted this for five seconds and my brain suddenly went holy shit how did I forget this song is good as fuck? The gayest man you’ve ever seen in your life tries to aggressively seduce you in an operatic baritone over top of a Game Boy Advance boss battle theme. I really liked this song in like middle school and haven’t watched the music video since then, and it’s funny to think that I found Pete Burns kind of creepy and/or scary. I guess it was the eyepatch. Now I’m like wow this look is super dope. I’m older than Burns was in the video, and now he just seems like a stylish guy I could have talked to at the bar last Friday. Mme. Mort and I ended up going on a Wikipedia deep-dive on the guy (and Stock Aitken Waterman more generally) and what a bisexual icon. It’s kind of incredible that he was able to be that prominently queer in 1984.
