# Danse Macabre
For context, this entry has been backdated to about when I was listening to Carloman albums at work all week. Carloman is a “Pre-Baroque Pop / Future Medieval Folk” project that has been putting out albums of medieval-inspired music since 2011. The ye olde instrumentation is very fun, I like how they’re clearly drawing on medieval sounds and musical structures while remaining modern and not just like reproducing English folktunes or something. You can find all of Carloman’s music on their Bandcamp page here.
I got introduced to Carloman when playing through Dungeon Bodega Simulator recently (which is a lovely game) - in it you can unlock multiple entire Carloman albums as in-game casette tapes that change the soundtrack. When I went looking for the game’s sountrack to listen to I was delighted to find that the band was real and that they’d let Alien Fruit just use all their music. The historically-inspired-but-ahistorical music lends itself really well to DBS’s sort of “don’t worry about it” anachronistic-fantasy-RPG setting.
