Commemorative art of my friends’ 2023-2024 TTRPG campaign by General Pedro. Probably my favorite campaign we ever played as well as the most fun I’ve had GMing and the best artwork we ever commissioned. We started off playing Ryuutama, had a brief Kill Sector interlude, and then switched to Ironsworn for a second act. The story was inspired by the King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard album PetroDragonic Apocalypse; or, Dawn of Eternal Night: An Annihilation of Planet Earth and the Beginning of Merciless Damnation. It featured the heroes trying to protect the environment from oilman Jon Dee the Roc-Feller, who exploited the blood of the primordial Petrodragon to unleash the combustion engine upon an idyllic fantasy setting.

Player-characters:

• Ord the DMPC guardian angel nature dragon.
• Holly the ape-woman and her bear familiar Backpack, who were on a quest to bring lost fish back to their river.
• Default Doug, whose player had to drop out really early and never had clear features or qualities but then he would come back to have incredibly plot-crucial accomplishments.
• Duskpaw the cat-man, who was on a quest to un-curse his father’s guitar and become a famous musician.
• Beakly Wingsworth the bird-man, who just graduated from magic college and was on a hunt for the most affordable housing in the land.
• Quartz Rutile the ape-man merchant, who accidentally became the Great Khan of the bird-folk by right of combat. He re-specced into a hero wielding the magical Gamma Knife.

NPCs:

• Great Khan Talyn I of the bird-folk, Quartz’s successor after her victory in the Khaany Temtseen gladitorial competition.
• Danny Zuko, leader of the car-loving greaser teens.
• Skimbleshanks the Railway Cat, double-agent who reverse-engineered the combustion engine for the resistance.
• Old Man Buglass the roach-man, Duskpaw’s musical mentor.
• Jon Dee the Roc-Feller, an evil wizard who conquered the bird-folk so that he could burn the “oil” found under their land and summon the Petrodragon back into the material world.
• The Petrodragon, a primordial spirit of entropy who was trapped within the earth by the dragons of the four seasons at the dawn of time.

Bonus!

Here’s the mockup I gave General Pedro when we were hashing out the specs.
